Thanksgiving Goose Hunt
Every year, my boys (dad, father-in-law, cousin Tom , buddy Chris) and I go on a goose hunt the day after Thanksgiving. We started this tradition 4 years ago. The first year, we used a private guide service out of Eagle Lake, and we had a great time. Shot a bunch of geese and few ducks, but mainly we were successful. Unfortunately, that guide lost his lease and we weren't able to use him the following 2 years. The second and third years, we used Larry Gore's Eagle Lake and Katy Praire Outfitters . It was awful. The guides we had both years were young and inexperienced, and for the size group we had we paid too much to be this unsuccessful. It was apparent that this outfit had gotten too commercial to accomodate our group. They weren't scouting the fields, we did all the work, and we weren't allowed to call (or call the shot). At $125/person, we came home with 8 ducks and 1 goose for those 2 years combined, and we were a pissed off group of hunters. Now this year, ...
